BUTIK is an all-female collective with a multidisciplinary attitude which operates in different italian regions. Its aim is to bring contemporary art to apparently marginal areas, which are distant from the most influential cities. BUTIK's project moves towards a decentralization and an enhancement of small-scale artistic activities through a variety of initiatives: site specific projects in collaboration with artists and workshops targeting local communities. These undertakings foster a gradual approach to contemporary art, thanks to the involvement of people. Moreover, BUTIK is an online platform where it is possible to gain access to an archive which includes past, current and forthcoming projects of the Collective. It provides editorial coverage, with texts, images and videos, of contemporary art exhibitions, art fairs and biennals around the world.
