BUUP is a multidisciplinary laboratory born in 2018 from an idea of Fernando Botton and Valentina Mion, after more than 5 years working together in the Informal City context. BUUP conducts awareness-raising initiatives through small theoretical and practical interventions, promoting discussions regarding what is housing and what is public space. BUUP organizes participatory workshops, conferences, seminars, artistic workshops and national and international exhibitions involving professionals, students, institutions and local communities, involving the discussion of the local needs within such a complex territory as Informal City. Individual expression, grassroots involvement, and bottom-up development have played important roles, as has information exchanges, open access, and public participation. Playing and fun are natural paths to knowledge and innovation. The success of the workshops and activities of BUUP is based on the motivation and creativity of the participants.
