Hunched shoulders twitching in the bright light, hammering against ivories and catgut and rawhide, Buzzard Lope come pedalling wares. With music ploughed from within the rich furrows of Waitsian writing and Elliott Smithian melancholy, Buzzard Lope are a piano-led troop with a penchant for good alternative song writing. First concieved by pianist/singer Roger Illingworth in a small pub on the outskirts of Cambridge, the band has long since set up shop in London, where they've been selling their own bootlegs for years under the name Show Without Punch. Armed with a new name and the imminent debut mini-album 'Daybreak', Buzzard Lope recently swelled their ranks with the addition of Jason Williams (ex-Broken Family Band), Gill Sandel (Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo), and saxophones from the City Bells (www.citybells.co.uk). A full pre-release verison of 'Daybreak' is available to download at buzzardlope.bandcamp.com.
