Research - Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Our mission is the production of intellectual property and know-how, their transfer to third parties for technical developments and commercial exploitation, and the application of flow-assisted technologies to provide to clients unique solutions in the field of analytical chemistry in the nano/biotech world. Nano/biotechnology is undergoing rapid developments on many fronts, from material science, sensors, and electronics to genomics, proteomics, system biology, and pharmaceutical and medical applications. In fact, the lack of well-assessed analytical and characterization methods for nano/bio systems is currently considered to be a major limiting factor to the final establishment of nano/bio technologies. Our core technologies are based on the development of flow field-flow fractionation (FFF) techniques. We have largely-acknowledged expertise in the development and application of FFF-derived technologies and methods. We are world leader in the development and application of proprietary technologies targeted to downscale or upscale FFF-assisted separation protocols. The research team is author of more than 100 papers, of hundreds of contributions to scientific congresses, and of two patents. We do know-how and technology transfer, and development of unique methodologies for:1. size-based analysis and characterization of large molar-mass polymers such as protein products and their aggregates, of nanodispersed samples such as microemulsions, nanovesicles and liposomes, viruses and virosomes, and of functional nanoparticles. 2. native separation and absolute mass characterization of large molar-mass proteins for proteomics.3. living cell sorting.4. specialist support for FFF labs operating in industrial and academic institutions.
