Individual & Family Services - Watertown, Massachusetts, United States
For most young people, reaching adulthood is a momentous milestone, marked by promise and opportunity. But for those with special needs, it can be a precarious turning point. At age 22, disabled young people in Massachusetts (and many other states) lose their entitlement to special education services and enter the world of adult human services. Their parents and guardians must navigate a confusing system of community-based residential and work programs, group homes, and new caregivers. The decisions they confront are daunting – and can have a profound impact on the long-term wellbeing of their loved ones. That's where we come in. byond22 is nonprofit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to helping young people with special needs transition to happy, productive adult lives. We provide transition support, recruiting and training for caregivers, a database of group homes, and additional resources – all aimed at helping young adults with disabilities make the best choices for their future and achieve their full human potential.
