Bytown Brigantine offers the opportunity for your teenager to have fun, learn new and uncommon skills, gain confidence, face challenges and accept responsibility through our unique Tall Ship sailing adventures. Our programs are designed to take boys and girls with no seamanship skills whatsoever and through the process of mentorship and training allow them to learn and grow as sailors and above all human beings. Our youth training programs range from weekend Black Jack "camps" on the Ottawa River to 21-day voyages of discovery aboard Fair Jeanne, sailing through the Thousand Islands. Each program is designed to provide maximum fun combined with knowledge and leadership development. The benefits of time aboard Black Jack or Fair Jeanne are many and varied – self reliance, confidence, cooperation, leadership, historical knowledge, "marlinspike seamanship" and above all memories and friendships to last a lifetime. Our programs are made possible by volunteers whose passion, experience, commitment and time make the Bytown Brigantine experience safe and memorable. Our programs are specifically designed for ages 12 to 18 years. While others play computer games and grow bored during the summer, your son or daughter will weigh anchor, haul lines, set sail and commence a voyage of personal discover like no other.
