Through dealing with serious orthopedic injuries and post-surgical difficulties of his clients in therapy, Paul realized that if activities were developmental in nature and specifically addressed one step in that progression, it would make for improved performance fitness in the long-term no matter how high these goals - and these gains would remain for a long time after the appeared. Moving over a developmental step to make faster (but short-term) progress simply made no sense as these are lost just as quickly. This held for rehabilitation and it held for athletes. It had to be progressive (slowly if necessary) and following simple developmental steps similar to developmental steps that we all take from birth through puberty. It was then that the seeds for something special took place. There are simply no quick ways to long-term success. There is 'no magic bean'.
