Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Canada creates change by supporting social innovations in Canada and Africa that can break the systems that sustain poverty and inequality. We promote policies to foster more equitable development. We invest in leaders who enable others to reach their full potential. We invest in people and ideas to end global poverty and inequality. As a registered charity, EWB creates opportunities for rural Africans to access clean water, generate an income from small farms, and have improved access to the services and infrastructure they need to improve their lives. EWB harnesses the problem-solving approach and creative pragmatism of the Canadian engineering sector to address the root causes of poverty in rural Africa. The chapter network is the beating heart of EWB. In addition to supporting the organization through fundraising, advocacy, and fellowships, they also create change in their communities and breed a generation of leaders who go on to change global systems. The EWB Calgary Professional Chapter (EWB Calgary) is one of 40 across the country. Many chapters are based out of universities and colleges, but some, like ours, are made up of professionals in cities across Canada.
