Our Mission--To preserve the legacy of the performance dance art of step and utilize it as a means to promote health and fitness and encourage K-12 youth to pursue college (where step is and has been traditionally performed since the 20th century).About Us--The California Step Association (CSA) is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization founded in Los Angeles, California in 2011. Through the performance art of step, we work with students of all ages to support their development into academically, physically, emotionally and socially adept members of colleges, community service organizations and society at large. Through this effort, we create awareness, participation and appreciation for this culturally significant art form. The California Step Association provides the following services: School & community outreach workshops & performances on the history and tradition of step Youth exhibition & competition step show productions for schools and community organizations Volunteer Education Workshops/Certification: Step Show Judge, Step Choreographer & youth Step Team Advisor Community step clinics & fitness workshops in conjunction with First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move Initiative School & community step-dance performance arts program development & step team creation support College scholarship opportunities College Support Services: Academic counseling, transcript review, application completion assistance, financial aid workshops
