California Association of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors CALPCC
The California Association for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (CALPCC) has its roots in the California Coalition for Counselor Licensure (CCCL), the original organization that led the successful effort to achieve licensure for counselors in California. The CCCL included representatives from nine California counseling organizations, representing unlicensed counselors in the state, who worked together for over eight years. Established in 2011 CALPCC's mission is to build and support the recognition and effective utilization of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC) in California as distinct and valuable providers within the clinical mental health profession. CALPCC leaders utilize their relationships and their knowledge of the legislative/advocacy process to ensure the effectiveness and credibility of the LPCC in California. Further, CALPCC seeks to provide support and resources to aspiring, new and established LPCC's such as information regarding legal, ethical, business concerns, and trends and legislation at the national level. In addition, CALPCC provides community building and professional development workshops, conferences, and virtual methods of communication. As a member of CALPCC, you receive personal consultations on the licensure process, ethical, business, and practice concerns, as well as in-person and online networking opportunities.
