Cambio Motion is a nascent electric vehicle (EV) company, with a long-term aim of becoming a true mobility company. Passenger electric vehicles face a major hurdle in adoption due to their price, and need for heavy support infrastructure also EVs have design needs that are crucially different from those of a conventional car. Cambio is attempting to address all of these issues from the perspective of vehicle design and integration– we believe that the age-old automotive design can be prepared for the future through a systemic rethink. Cambio was incubated at the Innovation and Incubation Centre (IIC), Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, where the foundational aspects of vehicle development and business outlook were addressed. The team received official recognition from the Government of Gujarat as an incubatee start-up and received full policy support.We are looking to develop a fresh new electric vehicle platform, i.e. proprietary chassis systems and drivetrain, from the ground up with the strong belief that every individual vehicle is meant to be an integral part of a larger [transportation] system, and it can only be so when it is designed for it. A truly sustainable solution can be reached only when the fundamentals are reached for. EVs work very well in fleets, which is demonstrated by many examples worldwide, by creating an environment for dedicated infrastructure development. Our wish is to prepare India for the inexorable future of sustainable technologies, policies and practices in the ambit of personal transportation through a sensible product. We strive for total quality and efficiency in offering an innovative and intuitive EV platform to create the high value deemed necessary aesthetically, technologically, environmentally (we perform technically intensive activities like conducting life-cycle analyses to deliver on this front) and socially, which can drive the change from conventional to electric. Hence our name, which means "change".
