Civic & Social Organization - Cambridge, England, United Kingdom
CUSU Class Act is a new campaign that works to support its members during their time at the University of Cambridge. Members of the Class Act campaign are any students at the University who self identify as having experienced social, educational, cultural or economic disadvantage including, but not being limited to, being working-class, low income, first generation, care experienced or estranged. This group will campaign on issues affecting these students on both a university and national level. It will also act as a network for students with similar experiences to support each other and discuss issues of class, educational background and socio-economic privilege that often feel taboo at Cambridge. This campaign is very much a continuation of widening participation work, as although there's a lot of work going into getting students from these backgrounds to apply to Cambridge, there is little support for them specifically once they are here. We firmly believe that access should not end at Admissions. We hope that this campaign will allow for the voices of these students to be heard and their experiences to be recognised.
