Canadian Crickets Inc (CCI) will be targeting 3 major issues plaguing the world of food production today to ensure long term sustainable, ethical and profitable large scale agriculture can continue to feed our cities for many generations to come. The issues are ; world wide food security, Pollution From Current Farming and diminishing resources/land space all across the world. World Wide food security (or insecurity) : It is no secret that world population is growing and will continue doing so at an accelerated rate with predictions pointing towards the world population doubling in the next 60 years. Traditional animal farming and industrial/GMO type protein crops are not suitable to accommodate for this increase in population. That is why we need to start focusing on products that require less resources, less land and produce more nutrient and protein dense foods.Pollution From Current Farming: Almost 1/3 of today's gas emission is due to the raising of Beef, pork and poultry and this will continue to increase as production increases. Our planet cannot sustain a doubling in these emissions with out serious global warming repercussions. With that in mind, it is crucial that we start looking at carbon neutral food production solution to ensure that we do not destroy the world in the process of feeding it. Diminishing Resources And Land Space In The World: As we consume more, resources such as water, organic fertilizers and Arable land. A pound of beef cost over 8 pounds of product and 25 litters of water to produce 1 pound of consumed beef. A Cricket consumes 1.4 pounds of product and less then 1 litter of water to produce the same pound of consumed product. For the world to continue growing at this rate, we need to focus on products we a lower "feed ratio" or the world will run into shortages of nutritious dense foods within 25 years.Together, we can make the future better by making changes now.
