MissionTo enable blind and visually impaired Israelis, regardless of race, religion, to achieve independence, mobility and self-esteem through working partnerships with guide dogs.Company OverviewThe Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind was created 23 years ago by Norm Leventhal from Philadelphia and Noach Braun from Israel. It is located 20 minutes south of Tel Aviv at Beit Oved.DescriptionSince the Center was founded we have facilitated almost over 450 partnerships throughout Israel. Our breeding dogs, living with families, provide most of our puppies, though some have been donated by generous colleagues in the International Guide Dog Federation. In the last four years Canada has provided us with three puppies.Our pups are then raised by foster families all over Israel, including university student at Ben Gurion, Bar-Ilan, and Hebrew Universities. General InformationOur guide dogs and services are provided free-of-charge. The total cost of a guide dog Partnershiip, from the moment of the pup's birth until it retires, is over $25,000. The cost to sponsor a puppy as a Mitzvah Project is just $1000. The Canadian Friends of the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind is a registered non-profit organization supported entirely by donations and bequests from individuals, foundation, companies and organizations that believe in our mission.
