The Canadian Skin Cancer Foundation focuses its efforts on skin cancer prevention and early detection.Our vision is a "world without skin cancer." Our mission is to eliminate skin cancer through education, awareness, advocacy and research.Education: Go Safe targets grades 5/6 and jr./sr. high school students with in-class presentations about playing safe in the sun, the ABCDEs of early detection and the risk associated with the use of tanning beds. University health sciences and medical students volunteer to deliver the program and we have recently launched an online eLearning module to support the in-school program.Awareness: Go Safe targets young adults, parents and others with a message of skin cancer awareness and prevention. To date the program includes magazine advertisements and a Go Safe television public service announcement.Advocacy: The CSCF has supported many initiatives across the country to encourage legislation to ban the use of tanning beds by youth under the age of 18.
