Canavan Window Company LLC is a contracting business in southeastern Massachusetts specializing in windows and doors. The company was the brainchild of our Founder and President, Derek A. Canavan. Derek holds advanced degrees in History and has been teaching History for two decades. As a young teacher who had a wife and four young children for whom he had to provide, Derek started working for a friend's construction business on weekends. The building trades was a welcome change for Derek and he took to it quickly. Derek's natural ability working with his hands, combined with his advanced level of education, created the perfect incubator for Derek's vision of what a window company should be. Canavan Window Company was established in 2009 as a sole proprietorship. This was a time when construction businesses where failing every day due to the real estate industry being so volatile and over-valued. But Derek had a vision and used the failings of those around him to cement his personal brand of value based pricing, quality craftsmanship and a "concierge level" experience for those who hired Canavan Window. These practices, combined with structuring the business to run on a LEAN model of low inventory, low overhead and fast response times, allowed Derek to not just survive the recession, but grow and thrive during that time. Due in large part to his vision, Canavan Window Company was a smashing success. In 2014, Derek was asked to take part in the restoration of Historic Boston Light on Little Brewster Island in Boston Harbor. From there, the business just exploded in growth. As the 2015 window season opened, Derek was faced with a choice. There were no more hours in the day or days in the calendar for window jobs. One man can only do so much. So to expand, Derek had to form a corporation and hire staff. In the Spring of 2015, Canavan Window Company LLC was born! It is going fantastic!
