The Richard Dimbleby Cancer Fund was set up in 1966 in memory of renowned broadcaster Richard Dimbleby. Its mission has been to support people living with cancer in the UK. For over 30 years it has worked as Dimbleby Cancer Care at Guy's and St Thomas' providing information and support Services which includes a drop-in information service, Welfare Benefits advice, psychological support, complementary therapies and the provision of Dimbleby pillows for cancer patients, with information centres currently at Guy's Cancer Centre and Queen Mary's Sidcup. In 2018 the charity launched www.cancercaremap.org a brand new online resource to help people across the UK find care and support services nearest to them, handing over Dimbleby Cancer Care to GSTT in 2019 as part of a Major Gift to enable the charity to focus fully on the development of the online map. In addition, the Richard Dimbleby Cancer Research Fund has awarded over £2.7million to research projects looking at all aspects of cancer care. The Richard Dimbleby Cancer Fund receives no government funding and relies solely on public donations and fundraising to continue its work. With more of us living longer with cancer we believe it is vital that cancer care is improved and made available universally through first class research. Whether through looking at the problems experienced by older carers, or the challenges of sharing cancer information with childrenwww.cancercaremap.org is a UK wide directory of cancer care services. Please contact hello@cancercaremap.org if you would like to be listed on the site.
