The Cora Barclay Centre is an internationally awarded paediatric auditory-verbal and cochlear implant centre, which has been habilitating the audition, speech and language of children in SA who are deaf or hearing impaired since 1945.We provide family centred Auditory-Verbal Therapy for children who are deaf or hearing impaired and wear hearing aids, cochlear implants or other listening devices. Early intervention practioners have specialist qualifications in early childhood development and family centred practice.Our Auditory-Verbal Therapists work collaboratively with parents, guiding and coaching them to facilitate their child's audition, speech and language development.The Centre offers Auditory-Verbal Therapy, music and parent infant programs for 0-6 year olds and specialist support services for school students up to the age of 18 years. Audiology services, professional counselling, family support and mentoring and a youth social support program are also available.All new families receive a 'starter pack', which includes therapy toys, resources and information. A library of children's books is available for early intervention families.For school students a visiting service from qualified Teachers of the Deaf, access to the multi-disciplinary team and a social networking and mentoring program: WHISPA.
