cantilever and press creates wood craft furnishings, built utilizing reclaimed and environmentally friendly materials, with a product line focusing on storage and small spaces. We also provide the service of custom wood working for larger furniture or unique storage needs.cantilever and press (C+P) was founded with the ideals of craftspeople, environmentalists and explorers in mind, creating wood products that are both sculptural and functional, for those in small spaces.In the summer of 2010, Matthew Hornland decided to give old wood new life and using his Bachelors in Fine Art in Sculpture, the encouragement of his understanding family, a case of craft beer, and a bench saw from an estate sale, birthed a small run of ideas and what would become C+P's first product: a wall mounted bike rack for those possessing a great love of riding, but very little storage space. Constructed of the off cuts and remnants from the woodworking industry in Vancouver, C+P has the principals of responsible sourcing, ecological consideration and clever repurposing built straight in, laying the groundwork for designs to come.As an outlet to the world, cantilever and press allows us to bring thoughts and designs to fruition; making use of old things to create furniture, storage and creative solutions for our urban friends. The items we create are reclaimed, made of Forest Stewardship Council certified woods, and exemplify our vision of forever reducing our impact on our environment.
