Military - Bourne, Massachusetts, United States
The Cape Cod Military Support Foundation Inc. was established in 2014 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The foundation was born out of necessity after the 2005 Base Realignment Commission moved the mission of Fighter Jets to Western Massachusetts. The foundation now raises the money for programs and services that was previously provided by concession stands and parking revenue from the Air Shows at Joint Base Cape Cod which ended in 2010. Founded by a group of business people and members of the Otis Civilian Advisory Council the foundation hit the ground running and has grown its operation and expanded and created new programs each year. The Foundation, provides programs and services that support the military service members and families of U.S. Air Force, U.S. Air National Guard, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army and U.S. Army National Guard and their families who are assigned to the Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC) and US Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England Woods Hole. There are more than 3,000 Military serving at JBCC sites. During National Guard and Reserves training this number increases by another 3,000-4,000 throughout the year. We provide support not only to these service men and women but to the almost 2,000 military dependents, the majority of whom are children. We also provide support to local veterans in conjunction with other service providers. There is not a day that goes by that we are not inspired by the sacrifices that we see, hear about and witness first hand, by the men and women who are serving, or who have served our nation. Without question, we are blessed to have courageous individuals that are willing to put their lives on the line every day to serve our country. In today's world, with a moment's notice they could, and do, find themselves being deployed to foreign land in order to stand for what our country is all about, or to assist when natural disaster or tragedy strikes here at home. The vast majority of these men and women have families that share these sacrifices, while their loved ones are serving. Those are the individuals that we choose to support and make sure that "Their Family is Our Family." We have been told by many Commanders that if their personnel have a comfort level knowing that their families are being looked after, they can focus on their missions, get their jobs done and get home safely. With that in mind, we have focused on the families and their needs, 365 days of the year. By no means are our Military, Coast Guard, or Veteran Families needy; however, sometimes they just need a hand to get them through a bump in the road, or to help them overcome an unexpected challenge which may be beyond their control or an opportunity to enjoy time with their families and their community. That is why our foundation exists – to serve those who serve us.
