Captive Story is a humanitarian relief organization obsessed with defending the rights of children at risk and radically attacking the poverty, hunger and injustice that enslave them.Children are the most vulnerable group in any society. The stories we hear of children who are living in unimaginable conditions are staggering. Throughout the world, millions of children are orphaned through war, through AIDS, through extreme poverty. Every seven seconds, a child dies from a preventable disease. Drug addiction among would-be parents and caretakers runs rampant. Children are sold into prostitution or forced to become soldiers. They have no hope. They are lost. They are the children who weigh heavy on the heart of God.It is estimated that in the next 30 years, 4.5 billion children will be born across the globe. They are our future. Without intervention, those who are born into the ghastly circumstances of war, disease and poverty will not be given the opportunities for education, healthcare, equality and protection that are needed for normal, healthy development. We attack the problems of poverty, hunger and injustice by focusing on the most critical needs: eradicating child sex slavery, fostering economic development and microfinance, and creating medical outreaches in Cambodia, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam.
