Card Services Technology (CST) is a third-party claim filing company that helps businesses prepare, submit, and recover the maximum amount possible from class action settlements. CST helps businesses navigate the class action process by providing expertise and experience. CST is currently working on the Visa/ MasterCard class action suit where any person, business or other entity that accepted Visa and/or MasterCard cards in the United States at any time from January 1, 2004 through November 28, 2012 may file a claim. The class action suit determined that Visa and Mastercard charged merchants excessive interchange fees. An interchange fee is a charge paid by a merchant's bank (the acquiring bank) to the cardholder's bank (issuing bank) to compensate the issuing bank for a portion of the risk and cost incurred. The interchange fee is subsequently incurred by the merchant. CST provides a valuable service, but claimants are not required to use a claim service like CST to receive a refund. While submitting a claim is typically easy, and every claimant can request no-cost assistance to help in filing, the proposed rebate may be based only upon "the best available information or a reasonable estimate." Additionally, as the Court has explained, "if data is not available, claimants will be asked to submit payment card transaction volume." Confirming the accuracy of the Administrator's "reasonable estimate" or determining "payment card transaction volume" can be difficult and time consuming. CST conducts these tasks for you.
