My core discipline lies in serving as a community engagement consultant. Here is the challenge:Scientists often fail in considering how to incorporate community engagement into their research. The reason is because scientists tend to demonstrate single-minded focus on conducting the research, and community leaders often struggle perceiving consequential implications underlying the researchSo I come in to serve as a community engagement specialist, where I help community leaders conduct proper conversations with cross functional research stakeholders. I enjoy helping communities effectively sit at the table with scientists and facilitate meaningful discussions and collaboration because I feel strongly that the community must be involved in framing the research.I acknowledge that scientific questions are often difficult to answer, but making sure that the community is asking the right questions..is what ultimately leads to our long-term collective success.
