Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (CVCJ) is an interfaith nonprofit agency dedicated to providing free supportive services to the frail elderly and the homebound, enabling them to live independently and with dignity in their own homes.CVCJ provides vital services to the elderly and the families who care for them. We have many rewarding and flexible opportunities to get involved with us. New volunteer orientation is held throughout the year and also provided at night and on the weekends for those who work.Programs & Services:Medical Transportation- volunteers drive clients to and from medical appointments in their own cars.Grocery Shopping- volunteers grocery shop for clients twice a month.Friendly Visits/Phone Calls- volunteers call or visit clients to help bring cheer and reduce social isolation.Caregiver Canines- certified pet therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers visit with the elderly and those with dementia in their own homes.Alzheimer's Respite Care Program- volunteers are specially trained and matched with families of Alzheimer's Disease patients. They provide a much needed break for the caregiver and spend quality time with the patient.Vet to Vet Program - Veteran volunteers are matched with Veteran care receivers, who form a special bond, founded on their dedicated military service.Multicultural Program- this program specifically reaches out to the underserved, non-English speaking population so that they receive the aid they need as well as knowledge of the resources available to them. Referral Source- we can provide a list of agencies and resources to help individuals transition in life or help them remain independent.
