This is Dr. Saleh Shahid, I am a Primary Care doctor for Carington Health , a direct primary care service providing house calls for the good people of Knoxville, TN. I started Carington Health because I wanted to be able to provide medical care the way it was meant to be, the way I envisioned before I became a doctor. That meant giving people the time and attention they need to treat them properly, treat them well, and do so at a reasonable price. For this reason, Carington Health is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice. That means we charge one, flat, monthly membership fee - no insurance. We get the insurance company, the government, and the hospital corporation out of the exam room, and we focus on you the patient. DPC practices are much smaller than a typical practice, only a few hundred patients, instead of thousands. That means visits can be 30-60 minutes, no waiting rooms, and direct access to me day or night, by phone, text or email. I made it a house call practice because too many people were not getting care simply because they were afraid to sit in a waiting room. Even before COVID, nobody ever wanted to take time out from work to spend 1-2 hours waiting, and 10 minutes with a doctor or nurse. So I also make visits to the work place. In short, Carington Health Services is medicine practiced the way it was intended.
