Caroline County is located on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland and is known as the "Green Garden County." The Town of Denton is the County seat and is home to many historical buildings and a charming downtown.Caroline County is centrally and conveniently located – the beautiful Atlantic beaches of Maryland and Delaware are less than an hour away and the bustle and culture of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore can be reached in only ninety minutes. The nine internal departments are Emergency Services, Public Works, Corrections, Planning & Codes, Recreation & Parks, Tax, Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology. Caroline County funds a wide range of allied agencies including the local Board of Education, Sheriff's Office, Library, and Chesapeake College. The County also is one of the largest local employers.Caroline County is a "Code Home Rule" county where the three-Commissioner governing has broad authority to pass local laws. The Commissioners work in partnership with the County's ten incorporated municipalities to advocate on behalf of local residents and businesses.
