CarShare Atlantic Ltd, is the first carsharing service in the Atlantic region starting with the Halifax and Dartmouth urban area market with expansion plans to the region. CarShare Atlantic is a service that provides subscribing members with easy, self-service access to a fleet of vehicles on an hourly or daily basis, 24/7/365. Members pay an annual fee, hourly fee and distance (per km) fee. All fees include gas, insurance, maintenance and free parking on the Halifax waterfront and Port parking lots. Our membership includes individuals, families for personal use and businesses and organizations for workplace use. In February 2011 CarShare Atlantic formed a formal partnership with Communauto, the company that brought carsharing to North America in 1994. They are the largest carsharing service in Canada (4th largest in the world) and at present operating over 1300 vehicles and servicing over 27,000 members within their organization. They have traditional as well as floating (one-way) carsharing services. CarShare Atlantic is a member of the CarSharing Association (CSA) and advances the associations Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
