Non-Profit - DALLAS, TX, US
The Carson Leslie Foundation (CLF) is the only non-profit organization in the country dedicated to finding a cure for medulloblastoma. CLF's vibrant Texas network has given the foundation the ability to turn every donor dollar into ten times that value by funding critical medical research.CLF's early and significant impact has been aided by our close relationship with the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). CPRIT, established via a 2007 Texas state constitutional amendment, leverages its access to $3 billion in bonds to fund groundbreaking Texas cancer programs and to build the state's medical and research economy. Since forging this important relationship, CLF has been instrumental in increasing the proportion of CPRIT funding of childhood cancer research from almost 3% to over 11% of its portfolio. Most recently, CPRIT announced that in 2017, 23% Of CPRIT's budget was invested into childhood prevention and research projects with plans to continue this upward trend of investing in childhood cancer projects. We've accomplished this in part through the launch of a joint CLF and CPRIT program, the "Carson Leslie Awards for Pediatric Brain Cancers". These grants directed $3.2 million to three Texas institutions - UT Southwestern Medical Center, Baylor College of Medicine, and Texas Tech University Health Science Center - to study pediatric brain cancer interventions that offer hope for a less toxic treatment for this horrific disease.CLF leverages the Foundation's scientific and business leadership and experience to focus financial, scientific, and policy support on the very best science. Our Board of Directors provides the guidance and network connections necessary to realize our vision. Members include Chairman Gerald McDougall, Board of Director, Walter Capone, Co-Founder, Annette Leslie and Co-Founder Craig Leslie
