Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Ellis County is dedicated to recruiting, training and supervising community volunteers to serve children that have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect and work to find them safe and permanent homes. Our volunteers go through training programs, background checks and are sworn in by the court for permission to work with children removed from their homes by CPS. Volunteer advocates research the case and contact those who are closest to the children involved: parents, teachers, doctors, and extended family to ensure that they are working for the best interest of the child. If possible, children are reunited with their families, or an extended family member is sought to take custody of the children. If that does not work, then the children are placed in a foster home. Our advocates go to court and testify on behalf of the child and stay on the case until an outcome is reached.
