The company was founded in 2017 by Joana Castelar and Ana Catarina Silva, two Portuguese women living in Stockholm. The brand concept was inspired by Joana's passion for cork material and products. Together, Joana and Ana Catarina embraced the dream of designing sustainable cork products symbolizing Portugal, and adapted to the Nordic culture and lifestyle.The name Casko is based on casca, the Portuguese word for "bark", and sko, the Swedish word for "shoe". The company name represents the symbioses of two languages, two countries and two cultures, Portugal and Sweden. The first collection consists of cork shoes designed to be comfortable and suitable for diverse lifestyles, entirely made in Portugal. Casko philosophy is to create unique and exclusive shoes with limited edition productions. Casko wants you to walk with a natural feeling and change your view on design and materials in a world of constant changes.Company closed in 2020
