Caversham Education Institute was established in 2006 and is a small, yet vibrant Early Childhood Teacher Training Provider. We are based in Durban in KwaZulu Natal with regional centres across South Africa and into Southern Africa on-line. The Institute is fully accredited with the ETDP SETA and received the accolade as "A Face of Quality" in South Africa in the 2018 national audit of the Quality Council for Trades & Occupations. Two accredited Early Childhood Development qualifications are offered, the Higher Certificate in ECD (Qualification 23117) and the National Diploma in ECD (Qualification 23118) at NQF Level 5. Both meet the qualification requirements as stated in the South African National Integrated Policy for Early Childhood Development (birth to 4 year old) and have official international recognition in certain countries.Training is provided part-time on alternate Saturdays enabling participants to work and study and apply learning in their classes. In recognition of the transformative role that the early year's teacher can play in communities, a strong personal development component is woven into each session to enhance the self-esteem and confidence of the participants. A variety of relevant professional development and leadership short courses are also available to deepen knowledge and skills and further support those working with young children.Caversham Institute has students of all ages, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO 930056846) with level 1 B-BBEE status. Over the years we have formed partnerships with a number of investors whose financial contributions are highly valued. Our ultimate goal is to be the ‘go to' quality ECD teacher training provider, by inspiring and professionalising ECD teachers to live and leave a lasting legacy.
