Motion Pictures & Film - Curitiba, State of Paraná, Brazil
Founded in 2016 by the filmmaker Larissa Figueiredo, Cazumbá Filmes is an independent production company focused on the innovation and experimentation in the production of content for cinema, television and new media. Cazumbá is a typical character from the Brazilian popular culture; a creature of multiple shapes and colours, which is neither man nor woman, and that moves between the real and the imaginary. The proposal of Cazumbá Filmes is rooted on the character that gives it its name. Our goal is the production and distribution of works that run through cultural, educational and social boundaries, both in form and content. Our projects deal with the borders that dwell us – gender, ethnic background, social class, culture – while overflowiong the formal boundaries that extend between documentary and fiction, between film and other media, between popular culture and contemporary art. Besides the desire to present elements of Brazilian culture, Cazumbá Filmes is particularly interested in the dialogue between Brazil and the world, having as one of its main objectives the international co-productions. The company manager, Larissa Figueiredo, brings the experience of four years working as a producer and director at Sto Lat Filmes, wherewith she participated in various festivals and national and international market events, in festivals such as Locarno, Rotterdam, San Sebastian and FIDMarseille – where her feature film project Agontimé was awarded the Sublimage Prize.
