The Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission is an autonomous body of the state administration, created by Law No. 16,319 in 1965, and amended in 2010, which has the purpose or mission, address issues related to the production, acquisition, transfer, transport and peaceful use of atomic energy and fertile, fissionable and radioactive materials. CCHEN functions expressed in the Act are:- Advise the Supreme Government in all matters related to nuclear energy, especially in the study of treaties, agreements with other countries or international organizations, in contracting loans or grants for these purposes; in the study of law or regulation relating to the ownership of the deposits of minerals, fertile, fissionable and radioactive materials, to the dangers of nuclear energy and other materials that are in charge.- Develop and propose to the Supreme Government National Plans for research, development, use and control of nuclear energy in all its aspects.Foster, make or investigate as appropriate and in accordance with current legislation, exploration, exploitation and processing of natural atomic materials, trade in those already extracted materials and their concentrates, derivatives and compounds, the collection of materials nuclear interest, and the production and use for peaceful purposes of nuclear energy in all its forms, such as its application to medical, industrial or agricultural purposes and the generation of electricity and heat.
