Entertainment - London, England, United Kingdom
The Ceilidh Club is a Scottish business that runs events in London. It was established in 1998 by Ed McCabe and the business has grown from a handful of friends and family meeting 4 months to regular running around 3 events per month with 200-250 attending. The goal of the Ceilidh Club is to provide the best 3 hours of entertainment in London. There's a live band with a caller who takes you through the steps, so no experience is necessary. It's great fun and has entertained thousands of people from around the world. The crowd is international with about 20% Scots, there's usually a fair bit of tartan and people are advised to wear something comfy. Most people are aged between 22-28 but it's about attitude not age and we have babes in prams to great grand mothers. There is an essential bar (it's well priced too), cafe and the nicest cloakroom people you will meet anywhere.Doors open at 7 and dancing is from 8-11. Most nights during winter sell out and sometimes in summer too. We advise people to buy their tickets in advance (however there are door tickets for our regular events). In January and early February we hold Burns night events - these are big nights with around 4-500 people. There is 3 hours of ceilidh dancing as well as haggis eating, poetry and bagpipes. What more could you ask for on a drench January evening? We are always looking to improve the club so we welcome feedback. We are also interested in good jokes, having a laugh and making new friends. We also try to promote small Scottish businesses too.
