Research - Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
The Center for Astronomy Education and Outreach "Haus der Astronomie" (HdA) on the Königstuhl mountain in Heidelberg, Germany, was founded in late 2008 by the Klaus Tschira Foundation and the Max Planck Society, and is a partnership between the two founders, Heidelberg University, and the City of Heidelberg. The Center's mission is to communicate the fascination of astronomy to the general public, and in particular to students, to foster the exchange of ideas between scientists engaged in astronomical research, and to use astronomy as a tool to improve education in the natural sciences, in particular in physics and in mathematics.A dedicated building, complete with digital planetarium and exhibition space, funded by the Klaus Tschira Foundation, is currently under construction on the Königstuhl (Architects: Bernhard + Partner, Darmstadt). More information about the Center can be found on its web-page as well as on its Facebook pages at [http://www.facebook.com/HausDerAstronomie].
