We promote the creation, protection and effective utilization of intellectual properties in Hokkaido University in a proactive and systematic manner, so that we transfer HU technology to the society. We lay out mid- and long-term goals and strategies relating to intellectual property, and improve the environment involving the creation, protection and utilization of intellectual properties. We promote revitalization of the local economy and help enhance the nation's international competitiveness by promoting educational and enlightenment activities relating to intellectual property and returning HU's intellectual properties to society.We provides the unified management of intellectual properties and promptly handles the use of intellectual property through top-down management under the direct control of the HU President.We do not merely create and protect intellectual properties and promote industry-university collaboration, but do create venture businesses and new industries with intellectual property as the core of industry-academia-government collaborations, help promote innovation, and fairly assess researchers and return profits to them. We incorporate new findings in society into the university's basic research and create new sciences, thus aspiring to realize an intellectual creation cycle with intellectual property as the core.
