Founded in February 2008, the Center for Minority Achievement in Science and Technology (CMAST) is a 501c(3) non-profit and non-partisan organization whose mission is to serve as a catalyst for building collaborative communities amongst science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education stakeholders.CMAST was founded by Charles Britt, an engineering and information technology professional, who recognized the growing need for greater collaboration amongst stakeholders as well as the establishment of an organization that would deliver services crucial to building capacity and increasing the sustainability of STEM education and enrichment programs, particularly those serving in underserved communities. In just a few years, CMAST has already established a strong track record for coordinating and managing very large and complex events and activities requiring extensive collaboration across all stakeholder groups. The organization has been praised for promoting innovative approaches to addressing many of the systemic challenges present in urban school districts.Mission StatementTo serve as a catalyst for establishing collaborative communities amongst science, engineering, and technology education stakeholders, in order to build the capacity and sustainability of programs that increase the academic achievement and global competitiveness of minority
