The Center for Sport & Social Justice (CSSJ) is a community-driven, academic center based out of California State University, East Bay. Along with research and education, our focus remains on partnering with community based non-profit organizations, and using local and global partners, to host events that build awareness around issues related to the intersection of sport and culture. Past CSSJ events have included presentations by Wyomia Tyus, John Carlos, Dave Zirin, Mary Tillman, Layshia Clarendon, Jessica Luther, and the organizations Soccer Without Borders and Skate Like A Girl, among many others. The mission of the Center for Sport & Social Justice is to promote inclusion and social justice in sport and physical activity through community engagement and scholarly activities. We are committed to keeping conversations about sport open through ongoing research, workshops, lectures, and community outreach. We provide a network for CSU East Bay students and faculty, community members, and academic experts, to share ideas and experiences.
