OUR APPROACHThe Center for Victim Research is designed to serve as a one-stop shop for victim service providers and researchers to connect and share knowledge to increase (1) access to victim research and data and (2) the utility of research and data collection to crime victim services nationwide. We use the following strategies to improve the response to victims:-Promoting the collection and use of victim data.-Increasing access to research evidence on victim policies, programs, and practices.-Supporting the translation and dissemination of victim research as usable information.-Improving opportunities for researchers and practitioners to work together.OUR PARTNERSCVR is a joint effort by three organizations: the Justice Research and Statistics Association; the National Center for Victims of Crime; and the Urban Institute. We are also working with other leading resource centers who share an interest in bridging the gap between research and practice, including the National Center on Elder Abuse, the National Children's Advocacy Center, the National Crime Victims' Law Institute, the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.OUR ORIGINThe Center for Victim Research was created to meet a need identified by the Office for Victims of Crime through its Vision 21 Initiative: the need for increased statistical data, evidence-based practices, and program evaluation to guide victim service providers, policymakers, and funders.
