As a group of Somali medical professionals living and working in Columbus, Ohio, our mission is to increase health literacy and access to health through community engagement and by linking the Somali community to health resources in their area.We provide educational programs and health awareness events that are tailored to the needs of the Somali community in Central Ohio. We aspire to inform and educate non-Somali healthcare providers about the Somali culture and religion so that they are able to provide better care for their Somali patients. We plan to do this by reaching out to the local health systems in the area to partner in developing "caring for a Somali patient" educational sessions that their providers can take part in.
