Environmental Services - , Scotland, United Kingdom
Our central purpose is to work with those who can make a difference through action, advocacy or partnership, to realise the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN), transforming the environment in central Scotland. We want to make central Scotland a more attractive place to live, to visit and to do business in.Through delivery of the CSGN, the Scottish Government is seeking a step change in environmental quality in central Scotland to address disadvantage and attract inward investment, whilst sustaining and enhancing biodiversity, landscape quality and wider ecosystems. The CSGN is one of 14 national priorities for Scotland in the Scottish Government's third National Planning Framework. It is an ambitious 40 year project covering 10,000km2, 19 local councils and 3.5 million people, accounting for around two thirds of the Scottish population.Three areas of the CSGN have been prioritised for action: greening of vacant and derelict land, infrastructure for active travel, and projects benefiting disadvantaged communities. At CSGNT, our role is to promote the initiative, encourage action by others and support the implementation of the CSGN. We work in partnership with a number of public, private and third sector organisations. We also maintain an overview of progress so that results can be reported and future delivery can be targeted at areas of greatest need. All that we do is done in partnership with others.Prior to the formation of the CSGNT there were already a number of dedicated stakeholders and partnerships contributing to the CSGN's delivery. We recognise and value this commitment and aim to create a beneficial environment within which we can all operate and flourish, and where we provide you with the services and support we offer.Further information about the CSGN initiative can be found at: www.centralscotlandgreennetwork.org
