FARDEC is a non-stock non-profit organization established in 1989 by a group of religious and lay persons to serve as a regional support mechanism for the farmers in Central Visayas (particularly the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, and Negros Oriental).FARDEC's main area of intervention is the empowerment of farmers towards the realization of genuine land reform and sustainable rural development. It currently implements five (5) integrated programs to target partner-beneficiaries in the whole region.Though its more than two decades of existence as an institution, FARDEC has been a recipient of several awards and citations in Cebu and the Philippines. As of 2021, it is the only non-governmental organization solely dedicated to uplifting farmers' situation in the entire Visayas.
