The Centre for Corporate Law is a research centre established in 1996 by The University of Melbourne, in recognition of the importance of corporate law and securities regulation.The purpose of the Centre is to undertake and promote research on corporate law and securities regulation and to provide a focal point for those working in these areas. The activities of the Centre include the teaching of specialist corporate law subjects, a strong research program, and conducting conferences and seminars.The Centre publicises research on topics such as: corporate governance, director's duties, FinTech, corporate social responsibility, shareholder activism, shareholder rights, financial hardship, financial literacy, insolvency, fraudulent phoenix activity etc. The Centre has developed links with peak organisations with an interest in corporate and securities law, including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Australian Takeovers Panel, the Law Council of Australia, and the Corporate Law Teachers Association.
