Centre of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences (CBCS) is an independent research center of University of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. It was formally set up in 2002 as a ‘Centre with Potential for Excellence' by University Grants Commission (UGC) India. Research takes center stage at CBCS, with faculty and students in a relentless quest of exploring new frontiers and consolidating existing ones in cognition. Primary areas of research includes attention, meditation, time perception, consciousness, emotion, cognitive control, cognitive development, language, bilingualism, ageing, decision making, action and perception using methodologies spanning a broad range such as Psychophysics, Eye Movements, Computational Modeling, fMRI, EEG/ERP, & Single Cell Recording. Staying true to its vision, CBCS alumni have played a key role in setting up various Cognitive Science programs and departments in the country.
