The Centre of International and European Economic Law (CIEEL) was established by law 717 of 1977 and started functioning in 1978 in Thessaloniki, at the initiative of the late Professor Dimitrios Evrigenis. D. Evrigenis has been a law professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a member of the European Parliament and a Judge at the European Court of Human Rights.CIEEL is a national documentation and research institute which deals with various academic fields such as European Law, International Economic Law, International Business Law, Human Rights Law, Public Procurement, State Aid and Energy Law.Its instituniotal mission is to promote primary and applied research work within its academic fields and to spread that knowledge, especially with regards to European law, to the public and to provide consultative assistance and legal information services to the State, legal entities of public law, as well as professional organizations and lawyers on issues related to its academic field
