The Cultural Center La Unión is a non-profit organization, oriented to the local town of "La Unión" and Chilean community, we want the development of communities and educational areas to be aware of their history and heritage, we believe that children should be educated about the place in the one who lives and their meanings. Knowing the local history, the contributions of people and institutions can understand the present and also project a future: this is how we understand social development.Created in 1998 and retaken in 2012 by a group of teachers and professionals dedicated to the culture and arts of the city of La Unión in order to promote the artistic and heritage development of the commune, creating spaces for reflection and education for both children and adults around our history and heritage.We develop cultural projects focused on the dissemination of our public collection of more than 400,000 photographs that represent the social, political and industrial progress of a small city in southern Chile called La Unión. We have more than 7,500 feet of 8mm and 16mm films dating from 1929 as well as newspapers, letters, documents dating from 1875, all this and more allow, from documentation and research, to reconstruct our history, our traditions and It allows us to highlight our cultural heritage and thus create a more conscious future.
