Nonprofit Organization Management - Chicago, Illinois, US
Centro de Trabajadores Unidos: United Workers’ Center is a grassroots member-led community organization & worker center serving Chicago’s southeast side and south suburbs. CTU strives to build immigrant and worker power by working to advance systemic change that promotes social justice and stabilizes low-income immigrant communities and communities of color. CTU traces its roots back to 2008, when a group of immigrant workers on Chicago's southeast side banded together after enduring labor abuses at a local factory. Their successful organizing efforts against labor exploitation fueled a determination to establish a community-driven organization dedicated to empowering low-wage immigrant workers. Since its founding, CTU has been a stalwart advocate for immigration justice, offering a diverse range of services to communities in the southeast and south suburbs. From know-your-rights workshops to citizenship classes, legal referrals, deportation defense advocacy and campaigns, CTU’s immigration services reach approximately 2,000 members of Latinx and immigrant communities each year.
