City Government/Municipal Government - New York, N/A, us
CENY is a non-profit educational association in New York City. Focused on children of Spanish background, it aims to reinforce their connection to their culture and language. For over a decade, CENY has been running a Spanish immersion program for kids on Saturdays, the first of its kind in New York City, with the support of the Spain Consulate and the Spanish Government. The program is immersive, play-based and focused on the arts, with a special emphasis on singing to live music. The teaching is extremely personalized with a very low student/teacher ratio. The program has a unique proprietary curriculum that merges de best elements of New York State P-12 Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS), and Spain's education program - Ley Orgánica de Mejora de la Calidad Educativa (LOMCE). The curriculum is designed to incorporate Spanish Language into the students personal and academic life. All CENY teachers are extraordinary, they are all licensed school teachers that have either Masters in bilingual studies or equivalent titles, and work at our program on Saturdays.
