The Ligama da Caltagirone laboratory was born from the idea of the artist Francesca Paneforte, nephew of Salvatore Ligama, renowned master of Caltagirone, known as one of the last custodians of ancient Calatina art,Two famous artists, Prof. Galvano and Maestro Renato Guttuso, fascinated by the young man's artistic flair while he modeling simple mud, proposed to keep his studies at the "Art Institute for Ceramics" in Caltagirone.A serious accident totally compromised the use of his arm at a very young age. Nonetheless he did not give up, making up for his important impairment with passion, so much so that his qualities as an early expert artist were finally recognized by Prof. Nicolò Barrano, commissioning him at the age of 14 for the important work of Don Bosco's bust, destined to to adorn the "Salesian College of S. Agostino" in Caltagirone. In 1994 he founded the first laboratory in Priolo Gargallo, also dedicating himself to teaching artisan techniques and the passion for art to students with great prospects, in particular his daughter, Marina Ligama, and his granddaughter, Francesca Paneforte. His artistic flair, his traditional technical experience, and the vivid passion have been inherited and perpetuated nowadays by her granddaughter, Francesca Paneforte, an established designer of international renown.
