Certified Au Pairs (C.A.P) is an accredited au pair training institute based in Pretoria East, offering hands-on and interactive courses registered by SETA (South African Qualifications Authority). For the most part, the au pair industry in South Africa has remained largely unmonitored, with no formal qualification guidelines dictating what constitutes a competent au pair. That being said, constant developments in society have changed the face of childcare, requiring that child minders are not only adept at caring for the health and safety of a child, but are also knowledgeable of the developmental stages at every stage of a child's growth. C.A.P was born out of the need to train and certify individuals to become accredited au pairs – giving them the confidence of a formal qualification that is recognised nationally as well as internationally with the America Heart Association First Aid Course, as proof of their knowledge and experience in providing expert childcare. The unique and in-depth au pair training course that we provide combines both theoretical and practical methods based on the Registered Unit Standard SAQA ID 244468 (NQF Level 3) – Prepare resources and set up the environment to support the development of babies, toddlers and young children. The course provides learners with a framework on how to handle children from childbirth to their teenage years – but more than that, it is also designed to prepare prospective au pairs on what to expect and what will be expected of them in real-life situations.
